Raising Chickens is so much more than a trend! Here’s 5 Reasons why…
Although, I do see why Raising Chickens has been on the rise over the passed few years. Chickens have so much more going for them than just fresh eggs. Here’s 5 reasons why…
1. Fresh “Better for You” Eggs
I know, I just said there’s more to it than eggs; but who doesn’t love fresh eggs?! There’s just something about being able to just walk across the yard in your jammies to get the eggs you need for a fresh, healthy breakfast.
By raising your own chickens, you know what they’re eating, making them organic and Non GMO.. They have a greater nutritional value than caged “egg farm” chickens.
2. Educational Reasons…
If you make room for chickens in your life, you will learn how fascinating they really are.
Ever hear of “pecking order?” Hens establish an ordered structure within their flock.
Chickens play, mourn members of their flock, dream, stress, and they can even tell the difference in over 100 human or animal faces.
3. Free Fertilizer
Chicken poop is the best fertilizers, and one of the most sought after, due to it’s high level of nutrients.
And did I mention it’s FREE?
You can be even more proud of your garden knowing that it’s organic!
4. Pest Control
Chickens eat pretty much anything! From beetles, ticks, grasshoppers, to slugs. So, you can finally ditch those chemical based bug killers and pesticides.
5. No More Kitchen Waste
Pretty much most scraps from the kitchen can be feed to chickens.
BONUS Reason…Entertainment
Yep, you guessed it…I’m slipping in the best reason why to raise chickens!!
THEY ARE JUST PLAIN ENTERTAINING!! There’s just something relaxing about sitting on the back deck after a long day and watching the Chickens and Ducks.

Wow, great benefits about chicken. Actually, chicken and egg is my favorite especially fried, grill and boil an egg 🙂
I wish I could raise a chicken or two but I live in my apartment. My neighbors would not be happy!
I had no idea there were so many benefits to keeping chickens. Knowing that they keep pests out of your yard and can help you cut down on the amount of trash you simply throw away is fascinating.
If you have the space to keep chickensits agreat idea as there are so many advantages.Fresh eggs for starters.

Chickens are an excellent way to control pests, I never knew that. I would love fresh eggs and the natural fertilizer chickens provide. You can have chickens in Chicago but most people don’t know this.
